Ken Mike Ochieng Oluoch is the Acting Chairperson of the SUSWATCH Board and a highly accomplished natural resource management and climate governance expert with over 18 years of experience in environmental planning, climate change, sustainable development, and community resilience across East Africa. He currently serves as the Coordinator for Natural Resource Management, Tourism and Wildlife at the Council of Governors, where he leads intergovernmental collaboration on climate action, natural resource management, and environmental policy across Kenya’s 47 counties. Throughout his career, Ken has played a pivotal role in advancing climate finance legislation, developing county climate policies, supporting the design of flagship programmes such as FLLoCA, and strengthening local governance for sustainable development. His extensive experience in policy development, strategic partnerships, and institutional strengthening, coupled with his long-standing commitment to environmental sustainability and community empowerment, provides valuable leadership to SUSWATCH’s mission of promoting inclusive and evidence-based climate action

She is currently the SusWatch Kenya board Treasurer. She holds various certifications key among them being: Certificate in Social Development from the Kenya Institute of Administration; Advanced Diploma in Community Development from the University of Birmingham; Certificate on Environmental assessment from the University of Cape Town; Certificate in Research from Reading University; Certificate in Social Foresting from Muguga; Certificate in entrepreneurship and Microfinance from Pan Africa Youth; Certificate in Rural Development from MASAV-Israel and certifications in Child Based Management and women in management from DANIDA and CDPA in Washington, DC respectively. Juliet is also a member of the Kenya Climate Change Working Group (KCCWG); National Committee on Energy; the Current Chairperson of the YWCA; Part of the Committee of Women at UNEP and the General Secretary for the National Council for Women. Juliet is also a former Program Manager for the energy and development programme for “Maendeleo Ya Wanawake”, where she served for 13 years

Emily Ojoo-Massawa serves as the Secretary of the SUSWATCH Kenya Board, bringing over two decades of experience in climate change resilience, sustainable development, and environmental governance across Africa and globally. She is a climate change resilience and adaptation specialist with extensive expertise in designing and managing programmes that strengthen resilience to climate change, particularly in vulnerable countries, regions, and communities. Her work focuses on creating enabling environments for climate action and sustainable development, including supporting access to climate finance and investment. Throughout her career, Emily has worked with governments, multilateral agencies including UNEP, UNDP, the African Development Bank (AfDB), and the World Bank. She has also collaborated with bilateral development partners such as DFID, the European Union (EU), and USAID, as well as academia, research institutions, the private sector, and civil society organizations to advance evidence-based climate policy, nature-based solutions, and inclusive development. Her strategic leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to sustainable environmental management make her a valuable member of the SUSWATCH Board, where she supports the organization’s governance and vision of promoting climate resilience and environmental sustainability in Kenya and beyond

Robert Muthami is an environmental governance and climate policy specialist with extensive experience in climate finance, carbon markets, adaptation, and sustainable development. He currently serves at the Embassy of Sweden in Nairobi, where he supports Sweden’s climate and green transition agenda through strategic partnerships and policy engagement. Over the course of his career, Robert has held influential positions across government, civil society, and international development, including leading climate and socioecological transformation programmes at Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Kenya. His expertise spans climate governance, environmental policy, just transition, and locally led adaptation, making him a respected voice in advancing inclusive and evidence-based climate action. As a member of the SUSWATCH Board, he provides strategic guidance that strengthens the organization’s mission to promote environmental sustainability, accountability, and climate resilience

Ms. Jane Kahata is a seasoned environment & natural resources management (NRM) professional with over 40 years of experience in strategic leadership and management. She has worked with both governmental and non-governmental organizations, development partners, and local communities in various capacities including consulting. Key skills that she brings on board include project planning & design, implementation, monitoring & evaluation as well as climate proofing investments throughout the project cylcle. Jane is compassionate about sustainability and has previously served on the Board of Ecotourism Kenya which promotes sustainable tourism. As a member of the SUSWATCH Board, she brings a wealth of knowledge, skill and experience to the organization.
