Sustainable Land Management

Sustainable Land Management

Submitted by admin on Wed, 09/07/2016 - 08:08

This thematic area focuses on land use types, land use changes and environmental management with tree cover improvement given more emphasis. This aligns to SDG 15 on ecosystem/life on land and it aims to protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.

An increase in tree cover is given an emphasis as this will result in a number of land use changes, combat desertification; enhance forest conservation, increase overall precipitation, and decrease environmental degradation as well as biodiversity loss.
